Parking in Pittsburgh has always been challenging. Trying to find a parking spot while driving can be extremely difficult because the parking signs are hard to spot and requires the driver to quickly decipher them.

Reveal proposes a new parking system that aims to make the abundance of parking information more manageable for the drivers so that the drivers can find an available parking spot quickly and understand parking rules without any confusion.

4A. Reveal mobile application

Finding parking spot before leaving for destination

Reveal mobile application helps a user find an available parking spot near the desired destination before departure. A camera attached to each kiosk calculates approximate parking availability based on user’s vehicle type and make the likelihood of getting a parking spot in the desired location visible to the user. We decided to display ‘percentage likelihood’ because the parking spots are ‘first-come-first-served’; there is no ‘reservation’ system.

Understanding parking rules before park

Reveal mobile application let users know detailed parking rules before the user commits to park in the location. This helps the user completes parking purchase inside his/her car.

Pay as you leave

Instead of purchasing parking times in advance, users are allowed to pay when they leave. This helps the user save unnecessary spending on parking if there is a change of plan.
